We can truly say our staff is partial to steam! We experience live steam virtually every day of the year. No one else in the United States maintains and operates more steam locomotives than HRMs sister railroad the Durango and Silverton. At any given time, the D&SNG has no fewer than seven steam locomotives in operation or under repair at its shops, add in our regular stream of rebuilds for customers and you can quickly see why the D&SNG, along with our Great Smoky Mountain Railroad staff are considered industry leaders and experts in ALL manner of steam locomotive work; there isn’t much we haven’t seen!
While small to midsized locomotives and amusement park railroad work are our specialties, we are ready to work with you on any size and type of locomotive maintenance and repair.
